What’s something you’ve done that you never thought you could?

👑 From Princess Christy to Queen of the Castle: The Fairytale Nobody Warned Me About! 🏰🍷

✨ Pour a glass, Peeps… here’s today’s file. ✨

What is something I’ve done that I thought I never could?

Well, heavens to Betsy Ross! How much time do we have? Because I could write an entire novel on the things I’ve done that I NEVER thought I could do! And trust me, some of those things weren’t exactly on Princess Christy’s royal bucket list! 😂

Let’s rewind about 26 years, shall we?

Once upon a time, in a land called Kreekview Drive, there lived a princess named Christy. 👸🏼

Now, Princess Christy had it pretty darn good! She was married, had her castle, and had a husband who took care of practically EVERYTHING her little royal heart could desire. If something broke, he fixed it. If something needed doing, he handled it. If Princess Christy needed something, well, somebody better get moving because Her Royal Highness was accustomed to things getting DONE!

I mean, why would a princess need to know how to do all those things when she had someone doing them for her?

And then… POOF! 💥

Somebody apparently waved the wrong magic wand, and my Cinderella fairytale turned into a full-blown BEETLEJUICE NIGHTMARE!

I’m talking Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, BEETLEJUICE! Somebody call the Ghostbusters because this fairytale just went straight into the paranormal department! 👻

There was no handsome prince riding in on a white horse. No fairy godmother waving her wand. No magical pumpkin carriage waiting outside.

Just me.

Princess Christy.

Standing in the middle of a castle wondering what in the name of Walt Disney had just happened to my life!

After 26 years of marriage, I suddenly found myself ALONE.

And when I say alone, I mean the kind of alone where you feel like somebody dropped you off on the Island of Forget-Me-Nots, took the last boat back to civilization, and forgot to leave you a survival manual!

I was shocked, frazzled, overwhelmed, heartbroken, and about as prepared for single life as a goldfish is for a marathon!

But guess what?

Apparently, the universe had decided it was time for Princess Christy to GROW UP!

Excuse me?! At MY age?!

Where was that written in the royal contract?!

Well, honey, that crown got upgraded faster than Cinderella could lose her glass slipper!

Introducing… QUEEN CHRISTY OF 229 KREEKVIEW DRIVE! 👑🏰

And let me tell you, that coronation ceremony was NOT pretty!

There were no trumpets, no royal guards, no fancy gowns, and certainly no handsome prince kneeling before me.

There was just me, a whole lot of responsibilities, probably a glass of red wine, and a never-ending list of things that needed to be done YESTERDAY!

Suddenly, I was the queen, the king, the royal maintenance department, the landscaper, the plumber’s assistant, the electrician’s apprentice, the security guard, the accountant, and occasionally the village idiot trying to figure out what in tarnation I was doing! 😂

Light bulb needs changing? Call Queen Christy!

Something breaks? Call Queen Christy!

Yard needs attention? Call Queen Christy!

Something makes a strange noise in the middle of the night?

Well, grab the wine, say a prayer, and hope Beetlejuice hasn’t moved into the attic!

And don’t even get me started on climbing ladders, fixing things, painting, handling household emergencies, or trying to figure out why something that worked perfectly fine yesterday suddenly decided to retire without giving me a two-week notice!

HEAVENS TO BETSY ROSS! I DID NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS ROYAL NONSENSE! 😂

But you know what?

I DID IT.

Not always gracefully, mind you.

Sometimes with tears. Sometimes with frustration. Sometimes with a YouTube tutorial, a few choice words, and a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon waiting for me when the royal duties were finished!

There were days I wanted to throw that crown straight into the moat and declare bankruptcy on adulthood!

But I kept going.

I learned to do things I never imagined I’d have to do. I learned to make decisions on my own. I learned that being independent wasn’t just about living by myself. It was about trusting myself to figure things out, even when I didn’t have the slightest clue where to begin.

And somewhere along the way, that scared little princess became one heck of a QUEEN!

A stubborn, hardheaded, independent, occasionally unhinged Scorpio queen, but a QUEEN nonetheless! ♏️👑

I discovered that I didn’t need someone else to run my castle.

I WAS perfectly capable of running the whole kingdom myself!

Now, did I WANT to learn all those lessons the hard way?

ABSOLUTELY NOT!

Could I have done without the emotional roller coaster, the heartbreak, and the Beetlejuice circus?

YOU BET YOUR SWEET BIPPY!

But would I trade the woman I became through all of it?

Not a chance.

Because I learned something about myself that I might never have discovered otherwise.

I am stronger than I ever gave myself credit for.

And after years of ruling my little kingdom on Kreekview Drive, I finally SOLD THE CASTLE! 🏰

That’s right! Queen Christy has officially retired from the royal estate!

The crown is still firmly planted on my head, but now I’m searching for a smaller, cozier little cottage where I can grow old, sip my wine, enjoy the water, watch beautiful sunsets, and spend my days with my faithful little furry companion, Blaze. 🐈🍷🌅

Of course, Blaze already thinks HE’S the king, so I’m not entirely sure who’s going to be running this next kingdom.

Probably him.

I’ll just be the queen who pays the bills and opens the cans of cat food!

And this time around, I don’t need a gigantic castle, a prince on a white horse, or a fairy godmother to make my life complete.

Just a peaceful little cottage, a beautiful view of the water, my music playing, a good glass of red, and my furry little king sitting beside me.

Oh, and preferably a maintenance-free cottage because this queen has had ENOUGH of climbing 12-foot ladders and fighting yellow jackets!

So, what’s something I thought I could never do?

Live alone. Take care of myself. Maintain a household. Make all the decisions. Survive the heartbreak. Rebuild my life. And discover that I could actually be HAPPY and at PEACE doing it all on my own.

I never thought I could.

But I did.

And I did it without a prince, a magic wand, or a royal rescue team!

Moral of the story?

Sometimes life takes away your fairytale just to show you that you were never meant to remain the princess.

You were meant to become the QUEEN! 👑

And honey, this queen might have lost her fairytale, but she certainly didn’t lose her crown!

Now, somebody pour Her Royal Highness a glass of Cabernet! She’s got a cottage to find, a cat to spoil, and a whole lot more living to do!

LONG LIVE QUEEN CHRISTY! 👑🍷🐈

Carpe Diem, my friends! Life’s too short to wait around for somebody else to write your happily ever after!
