🐾 The Best Thing I’ve Ever Found Randomly on the Street

What’s the best thing I’ve ever found randomly on the street?

Well… first of all, why are we assuming I’m wandering around staring at the pavement looking for treasures?! 😂

I’m not out there with a metal detector, a flashlight, and a Walmart sack yelling, “HEAVENS TO BETSY ROSS, I FOUND SOMETHING!”

No.

When I’m traveling down a street, highway, backroad, interstate, dirt road, or whatever road Google Maps has mistakenly decided is somehow the “fastest route,” I have ONE objective:

GET TO MY DESTINATION.

I am not looking for antiques.

I am not stopping for someone’s discarded end table.

I am NOT digging through a pile of furniture sitting beside somebody’s trash cans because there might be a hidden treasure underneath the broken recliner.

Absolutely not.

And I am CERTAINLY NOT PICKING UP A RANDOM PERSON.

🚨 Stranger danger is still a thing, Peeps.

I don’t care if you’re standing on the side of the road holding a sign that says, “I’m harmless.”

That actually makes me trust you LESS.

Keep walking. 😂

Now, there IS one thing that will make me slam on the brakes faster than you can say Heavens to Betsy Ross in the Revolutionary War with a musket:

🐶 A DOG.

🐱 A CAT.

Suddenly, the woman who had somewhere to be five minutes ago has completely abandoned the itinerary.

Because apparently my vehicle automatically transforms into the Christy Lee Roadside Animal Rescue & Uber Service.

I see a little fur baby wandering around alone and immediately I’m like:

“WHOSE BABY IS THIS?!”

Now we have a situation.

Hazard lights ON.

Car in PARK.

Schedule CANCELLED.

Christy is conducting a rescue operation.

I’m calling people.

I’m checking collars.

I’m asking nearby houses.

I’m posting pictures.

I’m trying to find the owner.

And if nobody claims that baby, now I’m mentally rearranging my entire life trying to figure out how I’m going to explain another animal.

Meanwhile, Blaze would probably be sitting at home thinking:

“Absolutely not. We are at capacity.”

😂😂😂

Because here’s the thing…

I LOVE animals.

Honestly, most days, I love animals more than I love people.

There. I said it.

Animals don’t gossip.

They don’t create unnecessary drama.

They don’t call you asking questions that are absolutely none of their beeswax.

They don’t pretend to like you and then go tell everybody something completely different.

They just want food, love, naps, and occasionally to destroy something you paid entirely too much money for.

I understand them.

People?

Ehhhhhh.

Spirit Water may need to handle that department. 🍷😂

So if you ever see me pulled over on the side of the road, don’t assume I found money.

Don’t assume I found some priceless artifact.

And PLEASE don’t think I’m loading somebody’s abandoned furniture into my vehicle.

Because I can assure you…

I AM NOT.

There is probably a cat underneath a car, a dog running beside the highway, or some other four-legged creature that has accidentally activated my internal rescue siren.

Because apparently I can drive past a perfectly good piece of furniture without blinking…

…but let me see ONE lonely little paw on the side of the road and suddenly I’m running a full-scale rescue mission like I’ve been dispatched by Animal Control, the FBI, and Noah’s Ark.

And Spirit Water is somewhere in the passenger seat yelling:

“GET THE BABY!!!”

So, the best thing I could ever randomly find on the street?

Not money.

Not jewelry.

Not antiques.

Not somebody’s “perfectly good” couch.

And definitely NOT A RANDOM HUMAN. 😳

Give me the lost dog.

Give me the stray cat.

Give me the little fur baby that needs somebody to stop.

Because junk on the side of the road?

KEEP IT.

Random people?

KEEP WALKING.

But an animal that needs rescuing?

Move over, Peeps.

Christy Lee Roadside Rescue is ON THE SCENE. 🚨🐾😂

And that destination I was headed to?

Well…

I’ll get there eventually.

Carpe Diem… unless there’s a cat in the road. Then PARK THE CAR. 🐱🐶❤️
