How do you deal with uncertainty?
Uncertainty? Sorry, That’s Not My Department! 😂
How do I deal with uncertainty?
Well… I DON’T. 😂
I have officially decided that if I cannot control it, fix it, change it, buy a plane ticket for it, put it on a calendar, or throw Spirit Water at it… IT IS NOT MY DEPARTMENT.
Heavens to Betsy Ross! Life has enough going on without me sitting around worrying about something that hasn’t even happened yet!
What am I supposed to do?
Sit on the couch and create 47 imaginary scenarios in my head until I’ve ruined my entire day over an event that may NEVER HAPPEN?!
Absolutely not.
I have shopping to do.
Trips to plan.
A bucket list that looks like it was written by someone with questionable judgment.
And fur babies to love. 😂
Here’s the way I see it:
You can only control what you can control.
That’s it.
Everything else belongs to God, the universe, fate, Mother Nature, karma, Spirit Water, or whoever happens to be working that shift. 😂
Because uncertainty will drive you absolutely RESTUPID if you let it.
Yes. RESTUPID.
That’s when you’ve worried yourself right past regular stupid and entered an entirely new zip code.
You start thinking:
What if this happens?
What if that happens?
What if this doesn’t work out?
What if everything changes?
Well…
WHAT IF IT ALL WORKS OUT?!
Nobody ever wants to sit around at 2:00 a.m. obsessing over THAT possibility!
Maybe the thing you’re worried about will work out better than you ever imagined.
Maybe the door that closes is saving you from walking straight into a circus you had no business joining.
Maybe the uncertainty is leading you somewhere completely different.
Or maybe life is just life, and sometimes we don’t get to know what’s coming next.
And you know what?
THAT’S OKAY.
Because while I’m sitting around worrying about tomorrow, I’m wasting TODAY.
And I’m not doing that anymore.
Life is too short.
Love the people who are sitting at your table.
Love your family.
Love your closest friends.
Love your fur babies—even when they’re judging every decision you’ve ever made from across the room.
Take the trip.
Buy the plane ticket.
Wear the outfit.
Order the dessert.
Drink the wine.
Sit by the water.
Watch the sunset.
Laugh until you can’t breathe.
Tell people you love them.
Make the memories.
And for Heaven’s sake, START CHECKING OFF THAT BUCKET LIST!
Mine apparently requires international travel, questionable decisions, running with bulls in Spain, and voluntarily getting into a cage in the ocean while a GREAT WHITE SHARK swims by looking at me like I’m the daily special.
🐂🇪🇸🦈
Normal people might call that dangerous.
I call it Tuesday with Spirit Water. 😂
Because here’s the thing:
None of us knows exactly what’s going to happen tomorrow.
That’s the whole point of uncertainty.
So why spend today miserable worrying about a tomorrow that hasn’t even arrived?
When tomorrow gets here, I’ll deal with tomorrow.
Until then, I’m going to LIVE.
I’m going to travel.
I’m going to laugh.
I’m going to love my people.
I’m going to love my fur babies.
I’m going to make memories.
I’m going to keep checking things off that ridiculous bucket list.
And if something comes along that I can’t control?
I’ll look at it and say:
“Well, that’s unfortunate…but it’s also NOT MY DEPARTMENT.” 😂
Then Spirit Water and I are moving right along.
Life isn’t promised.
Tomorrow isn’t guaranteed.
And I refuse to waste the beautiful life I have today worrying about things I cannot change.
So here’s my advice for dealing with uncertainty:
Control what you can. Let go of what you can’t. Love your people. Take the trip. Make the memories. Check the bucket list. And LIVE LIKE THERE’S NO TOMORROW.
Because as I always say…
CARPE DIEM! ❤️✈️🌎🦈
And if uncertainty wants to come along for the ride?
Fine.
But it’s sitting in the backseat, because Spirit Water already called shotgun. 😂🥂
