What’s the funniest misunderstanding you’ve ever been part of?

My Whole Life Is One Giant Misunderstanding

If someone asked me, “What’s the funniest misunderstanding you’ve ever been a part of?” my answer would be…

My entire life.

I’m not talking about one little mix-up.

I’m talking about 54 years of walking around like a human typo.

At this point, people don’t ask me what happened.

They just look at me and say, “Well… that tracks.”

I am a literal thinker. If you tell me to “break a leg,” I’m over here wondering if I need to call an orthopedic surgeon.

Meanwhile, everyone else is laughing…

…and I’m standing there like, “Wait. What did I miss?”

I miss everything.

Let’s talk about movies.

Bless the people who have ever watched one with me.

Within the first ten minutes…

“Who’s that?”

“Wait… is that the same guy?”

“Did he die?”

“Is she his sister?”

“What year is this?”

“Why are they mad?”

“Wait… pause it.”

Then everybody in the room yells…

“CHRISTY! IF YOU’D STOP ASKING QUESTIONS, YOU’D KNOW WHAT’S GOING ON!”

Well… that’s rude.

How am I supposed to know what’s going on if nobody explains it to me?

By the end of the movie everyone is emotionally invested…

…and I’m still trying to figure out who the villain is.

Then…

Twenty-four hours later…

I’m folding laundry.

Suddenly I yell…

“OOOOOOHHHHH!! THAT’S WHY HE DID THAT!”

Then I laugh…

By myself…

Like an escaped patient from the funny farm.

My family has just accepted that my jokes arrive on a delayed delivery schedule.

I’m basically Amazon Prime…

…except my punchlines take 24 hours.

People also ask me all the time…

“Are you really blonde?”

No.

My hair is dark.

The confusion comes from the software running my brain.

Somewhere along the way Spirit Water looked down from the heavens and said…

“You know what this Scorpio needs?”

“Let’s give her incredible intuition…”

“…but absolutely no clue what’s happening in everyday conversations.”

Now that’s entertainment.

It’s honestly a weird combination.

My Scorpio intuition is scary accurate.

I can sense people’s motives.

I can read a room in ten seconds.

I’ll have a dream that comes true six months later.

But someone tells me a joke…

…and my brain completely clocks out for lunch.

Make it make sense.

Spirit Water is over there saying…

“I gave you a sixth sense…”

“…but I also took away your ability to understand sarcasm immediately.”

Balance.

Then there’s my vocabulary.

I don’t just say words.

I create them.

Like…

“Restupid.”

Is it a real word?

No.

Should it be?

Absolutely.

Because there are some people who aren’t just stupid.

They’re…

RESTUPID.

You’re welcome, Webster.

Then there’s me saying things like…

“Heavens to Betsy Ross in the Revolutionary War!”

People look at me like…

“What?”

I don’t know either.

It just came flying out of my mouth.

Probably because Betsy Ross had a musket nearby…

Maybe.

Don’t fact-check me.

Spirit Water was clearly freelancing that day.

The more confused I get…

…the funnier everyone else gets.

I’ve finally realized something.

Maybe I’m not the one telling the joke.

Maybe I AM the joke.

And honestly?

I’m okay with that.

Because life is a whole lot more fun when you can laugh at yourself.

I may misunderstand conversations.

I may miss the joke.

I may ask fifty-seven questions during a movie.

I may invent words.

I may yell historical references that make absolutely no sense.

And yes…

I’ll probably understand this blog tomorrow.

But that’s just who I am.

I’m the most misunderstood misunderstood girl you’ll ever meet.

A dark-haired woman with a delayed laugh…

A Scorpio with supernatural intuition and absolutely terrible comedic timing…

Powered entirely by coffee…

Questionable decisions…

And whatever magical concoction Spirit Water keeps pouring into my cup.

Heavens to Betsy Ross…

Wouldn’t have it any other way.

Carpe Diem!
