What does “having it all” mean to you? Is it attainable?
What Does “Having It All” Really Mean?
Some people think “having it all” means a mansion, a luxury car, and enough money to buy a small island somewhere tropical where no one asks you what’s for supper.
Me? I’d settle for everyone in my house putting their dishes in the dishwasher the first time I ask.
Now THAT feels like success.
Honestly, having it all means something completely different to me than what social media tries to convince us it should mean. Sure, money is nice. I’m not going to sit here pretending I don’t enjoy being able to go out to eat without checking my bank account first or buying something cute without hearing dramatic music play in my head while I swipe my card.
Money absolutely helps. Whoever said money can’t buy happiness has clearly never paid off a credit card bill or booked a beach vacation.
But having it all isn’t just about money.
To me, having it all means having my family beside me while we make memories together. It’s the trips, the laughter, the late-night snack runs, the vacations where everyone is tired, sunburned, and slightly aggravated by day three—but somehow those become the stories we laugh about forever.
Having it all is knowing your people are there for you no matter what.
It’s having friends who answer the phone when life gets hard and family members who love you even after seeing you at your worst… like without makeup, caffeine, or patience.
It’s also the little things we take for granted every single day.
Having it all means:
- Bills are paid.
- Gas tank isn’t on “Lord, please let me make it.”
- Nobody in the family is seriously sick.
- You can sleep peacefully at night without carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders.
Because truthfully, health is wealth. You don’t fully realize that until you or someone you love starts dealing with pain, illness, or daily struggles that no amount of money can magically fix.
And maybe the biggest thing of all?
Having it all is choosing to see life with a positive attitude.
Listen, life is hard enough already. Traffic is annoying. Laundry reproduces overnight. The grocery bill now requires a small loan application. And don’t even get me started on trying to decide what everyone wants for dinner.
But if you spend your life focusing only on the negative, you’ll miss all the beautiful little moments happening right in front of you.
I truly believe happiness starts with perspective.
A “glass half full” mindset doesn’t mean life is perfect. It just means you’ve decided not to let every inconvenience steal your joy.
Some days “having it all” simply means:
- Your family is healthy.
- Your coffee is still hot.
- You found matching socks.
- And nobody asked, “What’s for dinner?” before 10 a.m.
That’s enough for me.
At the end of the day, having it all isn’t about having everything.
It’s about appreciating what matters most while you still have it.
And maybe… keeping a little extra money around for tacos and vacations too.
Because balance.
And maybe a margarita in your hand while pretending calories don’t count on vacation.🛳️🍹🧑🧑🧒🧒
