My Sister from Another Mother (And My Partner in Shenanigans)

Everyone needs that one person in life who just gets them. You know, the one who shares your thoughts, your laughter, your questionable ideas, and your tendency to say, “Hey…what if we started another project?”

For me, that person is Christi.

First of all, we have the same name. Well, almost. We both answer to “Christy/Christi,” which means if someone yells our name in public, there’s a 100% chance both of us will turn around.

We also have the same hair color, think alike, like all the same things, and somehow ended up with husbands who share the same name as my ex-husband. If that isn’t proof that we were meant to be sisters, I don’t know what is.

We always say we are sisters from another mother, and honestly, I’m convinced there was some kind of mix-up at the hospital.

Trouble Begins When We Get Together

Christi isn’t just my best friend—she’s my co-race director, my partner in crime, and the one person who can turn a simple lunch into a six-month community project.

When we get together, our brains go into overdrive.

“Should we plan another 5K?”
“What if we add a costume contest?”
“Ooh, and medals!”
“Let’s make it bigger!”

Of course, these brilliant planning sessions are often fueled by a healthy supply of wine and beer. Give us a couple of drinks, a notebook, and a free evening, and there is absolutely no limit to what we might dream up.

Meanwhile, her husband, Chris, sees us huddled together with our beverages and immediately starts wondering what new item is about to be added to his to-do list.

Poor Chris.

He knows that when Christi and I are together, there is absolutely no telling what will happen next. One minute we’re sipping wine and chatting, and the next minute we’ve planned an entire fundraiser, three meetings, and a shark-diving expedition.

The Keeper of My Deepest, Darkest Secrets

As funny and adventurous as we are, Christi is also the person I trust more than almost anyone in the world.

She knows my deepest, darkest secrets and keeps them locked away tighter than Fort Knox.

When life gets overwhelming and I feel like I can’t trust anyone else, she is the first person I call. She listens, supports, laughs with me, and somehow always knows exactly what to say.

That kind of friendship is rare.

Beauty, Brains, and Business Skills

Christi is one of the smartest people I know.

She is funny, beautiful, and incredibly talented. I’m constantly in awe of the life she and her husband, Chris, have built together. They work hard, travel, and somehow manage to start and maintain successful businesses while making it all look effortless.

I admire her more than she probably realizes.

Friends Til the End

I’m so proud to call Christi one of my very best friends.

We laugh until we cry, share our dreams over wine and beer, come up with outrageous ideas, support each other through every season of life, and create memories I wouldn’t trade for anything.

And in case you’re wondering, yes—we do have a bucket list.

At the top of that list?

Cage diving with sharks. 🦈

Because apparently organizing races, running businesses, and drinking wine while planning world domination isn’t thrilling enough.
