How do you use social media?

🤳 Confessions of a Social Media Manager (Who Also Sells Pressure Washers)

If you had told me years ago that my job would involve talking to my phone about grease, grime, and industrial heaters… I probably would’ve laughed and gone back to scrubbing something.

Yet here I am.

Running social media for our family business, creating videos daily, and somehow convincing people that janitorial supplies are entertaining. And honestly? I love every second of it.

Because here’s the truth:

Social media isn’t just about posting—it’s about connection, consistency, and a little bit of chaos.

🎥 Step 1: Embrace the Awkward

Talking to your phone in public? Awkward.

Recording yourself explaining pressure washers for the 17th time? Also awkward.

But you know what’s more awkward?

Not showing up at all.

I’ve learned that people don’t follow perfect—they follow real. And sometimes “real” looks like me laughing mid-video because I forgot what I was saying… again.

😂 Step 2: Be Funny (Even If It’s Just a Little Bit)

Somehow, jokes + cleaning supplies = engagement.

I started making funny videos just to keep things interesting, and now I get messages from people saying how much they enjoy them. That tells me one thing:

👉 People may come for the products…

👉 But they stay for the personality.

And if I can make someone laugh while also teaching them about a pressure washer or degreaser? That’s a win.

🧼 Step 3: Sell Without Feeling “Salesy”

Let’s be honest—nobody wakes up thinking,

“Wow, I hope I see a post about industrial heaters today.”

But they do want:

Solutions Tips Before-and-afters And a little entertainment along the way

So instead of just saying “Buy this,” I show:

How it works Why it matters And sometimes… what happens when you don’t use it 😅

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Step 4: Tell Your Story

This business isn’t just a business to me.

My dad built it from the ground up.

I started working here when I was 15.

I worked through college, through marriage—and now here I am, helping grow it in a completely different way.

That story? That’s what people connect with.

Because behind every product we sell—whether it’s a pressure washer, a custom chemical, or janitorial supplies—there’s a family that genuinely cares.

🧪 Step 5: Brag a Little (You’ve Earned It)

We don’t just sell products—we:

Distribute for major pressure washer companies Create our own chemicals Serve customers across Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee

And yes… that’s a big deal.

So don’t be afraid to talk about it. Confidence builds trust.

❤️ Step 6: Remember Why You’re Doing It

At the end of the day, social media isn’t about likes or views.

It’s about:

Building relationships Helping customers find solutions Growing something meaningful

And for me, it’s about continuing something my dad started—and making sure more people know about it.

🚿 Final Thoughts (From Someone Who Talks About Cleaning Way Too Much)

If you’re using social media for your business, here’s my advice:

Show up—even when it feels awkward Be yourself—people can tell when you’re not Make it fun—because boring doesn’t get shared Tell your story—it matters more than you think

And if you can make people laugh while selling cleaning supplies?

You’re doing something right.
