What Are My Biggest Challenges?

We all have challenges. Some are deep, heavy, and life-altering. Others? Well… they come wrapped in beautiful fabric, designer labels, and the perfect pair of shoes.

If I’m being honest, my biggest challenge is not shopping.

I love fashion. Clothes. Shoes. Purses. Accessories. All of it. Fashion isn’t just something I wear—it’s something I feel. It’s self-expression, confidence, creativity, and joy all rolled into one. Some people relax by gardening or cooking. I relax by browsing racks, scrolling boutiques, and imagining outfits for places I may or may not be going.

Sometimes I think I chose the wrong profession. I should have gone into fashion and marketing instead of teaching. Don’t get me wrong—I loved teaching. I truly did. Helping students grow, learn, and succeed was incredibly rewarding. But fashion? That’s been my lifelong love. My passion. And maybe… my downfall. Or vice. Or guilty pleasure. However you want to label it.

Which leads me straight to my second biggest challenge: saving money.

It’s kind of hard to save when you love fashion and love traveling with your family. Add experiences, memories, and making the most out of life, and suddenly that savings account starts looking a little neglected. But here’s the thing—I genuinely believe you should enjoy your life. You can’t take it with you when you die. Tomorrow isn’t promised, and moments matter.

Do I need every pair of shoes? Probably not.

Do I regret the memories, trips, laughter, and joy? Absolutely not.

Like most challenges, it’s about balance. Learning when to splurge and when to pause. Enjoying what you love while still being mindful of the future. And maybe admitting—out loud—that fashion will always have a piece of my heart (and my wallet).

So yes, my biggest challenges may not be traditional ones. But they’re mine. And honestly? I wouldn’t trade my love for fashion—or living life fully—for anything.
