What principles define how you live?
My principles have changed lately. I used to believe that being surrounded by many friends meant I was living life fully. But experience has taught me that it’s far better to have just a few people you can truly trust than a crowd who only appear to care.
I’ve always loved being social and active in my community, but that side of me has faded. I’ve been hurt by people I thought were friends—people who lied or turned away to protect themselves. It made me see how often others put their own interests first, and how rare it is to find someone who genuinely cares about others’ feelings.
Honesty and respect are still the principles I try to live by, even though I’ve seen those values dismissed too many times. The disappointment I’ve felt made me stop and think about how I want to live from here on out—how I spend my time, who I let into my life, and where I put my energy.
For now, I’m content keeping my world small. If it’s just my family and one or two trusted friends beside me, that’s enough. I’ve learned that peace is better than popularity, and trust is worth more than attention.
