What job would you do for free?
If I’m being completely honest (and I am, because this is my fantasy job and I make the rules), the job I would absolutely, without hesitation, do for free… is professional world traveler with a highly refined talent for eating, sipping, and “researching.”
Now, let’s be clear—this is not just vacationing. No, no. This is work. Very serious work. The kind of work that requires strolling through cobblestone streets pretending to understand maps, nodding thoughtfully while tasting wine, and taking 47 photos of the same croissant from slightly different angles for “content.”
If someone—any generous billionaire will do—would simply cover my lodging and food, I would gladly sacrifice my time to travel the globe writing about:
charming boutique hotels with sheets so soft they feel illegal, restaurants where I confidently mispronounce everything on the menu, vineyards where I swirl, sniff, sip, and then immediately ask, “Do you have anything sweeter?”
I mean, imagine me wandering through the rolling hills of Tuscany, holding a glass of wine like I know what “notes of oak” actually means. Or standing dramatically in a vineyard in Napa Valley, pretending I can detect “a hint of blackberry with a whisper of ambition.”
And let’s not forget transportation—because I am fully committed to the experience. Planes, trains, and the occasional “I think this is the right bus” adventure. I will embrace it all. Delayed flight? Content. Missed train? Character development. Accidentally ending up in the wrong country? Now that’s a blog post.
Of course, I’d prefer to have a travel companion—someone to split desserts with (or at least pretend to), laugh with, and say things like, “We probably shouldn’t order another bottle”… and then do it anyway. But if not, who knows? Maybe I’ll meet my person somewhere between a seaside café and a vineyard tour. Because nothing says romance like bonding over jet lag and bread baskets.
And speaking of scenery—yes, I will absolutely be “working” on beautiful beaches in places like Santorini, where the sunsets are so stunning they make you question every life decision that didn’t lead you there sooner. I’ll also be exploring breathtaking castles in places like Neuschwanstein Castle, where I will 100% pretend I’m royalty until security gently escorts me out.
And the photos? Oh, there will be photos. Thousands of them. Pictures of food before, during, and after I eat it. Pictures of wine glasses held up to sunsets. Pictures of hotel rooms that I will absolutely consider never leaving. My camera roll will be less of a collection and more of a documentary titled: “A Woman Who Took Her Job Very Seriously.”
At the end of the day, my blog would be a mix of travel tips, food reviews, slightly questionable navigation choices, and the ongoing saga of how I somehow packed too much and not enough at the same time.
So yes—if you’re offering—I will happily take on this demanding role. For free. Out of pure dedication, of course.
You’re welcome, world.🌎 🏖️ 🚊 ✈️ 🍷
