What was the best compliment you’ve received?

The Best Compliment I’ve Ever Received (And Why It’s Probably Because I Smile Too Much)

You know how some people get complimented on their intelligence, their talent, or their ability to fold a fitted sheet? (Seriously…teach me your ways.) Well, the best compliment I’ve ever received is a little different—and honestly, I’ll take it all day long.

People tell me I’m easygoing. That I’m always smiling. That I look happy.

Now, let’s pause right there—because if you really knew how many times I’ve tripped over absolutely nothing, locked my keys in my car, or walked into a room and forgotten why I was there…you might question that “always has it together” look. But happy? Yes. That one I’ll claim.

I’ve always believed life is just better when you decide your glass is half full…even if sometimes it’s more like, “Well, there’s at least a drop left, so we’re still in business!”

Here’s the thing: I truly believe you can only control what you can control. Everything else? Why waste your energy stressing over it? Life is too short to spend it worrying about things that are out of your hands—like the weather, other people’s attitudes, or why your hair refuses to cooperate on the one day you actually have somewhere to be.

Instead, I’ve made it my personal mission to find the good, laugh when I can, and smile…even when life is being a little extra.

And if I can make someone else smile too? That’s the real win.

Because let’s be honest—life isn’t meant to be lived sitting on the sidelines, overthinking every little thing. It’s meant to be lived fully…and maybe just a little fabulously.

So here’s my philosophy:

Spend time with the people you love.

Take the trip.

Make the memories.

Buy the shoes. Yes, I’m talking about those Tory Burch Miller sandals.

Go ahead and get the purse you’ve been eyeing. Life is short—hello, Louis Vuitton.

Add a little sparkle with that David Yurman piece you love.

Pack those bright Lilly Pulitzer outfits and book the cruise.

Make a bucket list—and don’t just write it…live it.

Swim with sharks (because I love sharks, and yes, I know that sounds slightly unhinged).

Jump out of something high (with a parachute, please—let’s not get carried away).

Go to every concert that makes your heart happy.

Ride a train somewhere scenic.

Float in a hot air balloon and pretend you’re in a movie.

Travel through Europe, visit all the wineries, and drink all the wine—because if you know me, you know I LOVE WINE.

And while you’re at it? Dream big. Build that house exactly the way you want it. Don’t let anyone talk you out of your vision.

At the end of the day, the best compliment I’ve ever received isn’t just about smiling or being easygoing—it’s about choosing joy. Choosing positivity. Choosing to live life in a way that feels full, fun, and meaningful.

So if you see me smiling, just know—I’m probably thinking about my next adventure…or my next glass of wine.

Cheers to living life to the fullest. 🍷
