What’s your favorite thing to cook?
I Should’ve Been Italian (and My Cat Is My Sous Chef) 🍝🐈⬛
What’s my favorite thing to cook? Honestly… anything.
But if we’re telling the real truth, the love of my life is pasta. 🍝
I LOVE PASTA. Capital letters. No apologies.
I should’ve been Italian because I could eat pasta every single day and never complain. Add a glass of red wine 🍷—or an Italian Margarita 🍹—and suddenly I’m standing in my kitchen writing about all my life experiences, travels, food adventures, and random thoughts, fully convinced I’m one good meal away from moving to Italy.
Most nights look like this:
Pasta cooking.
Music playing.
Me dancing around the kitchen with a glass of red wine or an Italian Margarita in my hand, mentally drafting stories about my life while noodles boil.
And then there’s Blaze.
Meet Blaze—my kitchen supervisor, taste tester, and emotional support animal. He’s very involved. He must inspect what I’m cooking and what I’m drinking. If I turn my back for even a second, he’ll attempt to put his entire head into my wine glass…or the margarita, because apparently he’s an equal-opportunity beverage inspector.
He also loves eggnog, which is mildly alarming considering Blaze came from Tunica, Mississippi—casino country. So sometimes I wonder if he’s just naturally wired for drinking and gambling. I worry about his soberness from time to time, but he assures me (with his face) that he’s totally fine.
“If it tastes good and there’s wine nearby, it’s approved.” – Blaze 🐾
Back to the cooking.
Blaze is always present for final approval. He sits on the counter while I eat, like a tiny human roommate who pays zero rent and offers unsolicited feedback. He eats with me. He approves everything I cook. And if Blaze approves it, it’s officially good. He thinks he’s human anyway, so his opinion matters.
While pasta is clearly my soulmate, I truly love cooking all kinds of food and trying new recipes—especially Italian. I also love to travel and experience new foods wherever I go. The only rule? It has to be vegetarian. But let’s be honest—I can always make that work. Pasta (and Italian Margaritas) make everything possible.
So if you’re ever wondering what makes me happy, it’s simple:
Pasta boiling on the stove 🍝 A glass of red wine or an Italian Margarita 🍷🍹 Music playing Me dancing and writing about life as it happens And Blaze supervising like he’s filming a cooking show I didn’t sign up for
If that’s not living, I don’t know what is.🍝🍷🐈⬛🐾
