What’s the thing you’re most scared to do? What would it take to get you to do it?
The One Thing I’m Most Afraid to Do (And Why Two of the Other Terrifying Things Get a Pass)
Everyone has fears. Some people are afraid of public speaking. Some are afraid of spiders. Some are afraid of commitment.
I, however, am afraid of being trapped in a dark hole in the ground with no exit, no light, and possibly alien creatures waiting to pop my eyeballs out like Jim Carrey in The Mask.
So let’s talk about extreme adventures—and rank them from Absolutely Not to Terrifying But Sign Me Up.
#1 ABSOLUTE NO: Cave Exploration (aka My Personal Nightmare)
Let me be clear:
I am extremely claustrophobic.
I don’t like tight spaces.
I don’t like darkness.
I don’t like not knowing where I’m going.
And I especially don’t like the idea of being underground with zero visibility and zero exits.
I like to see all the way around my person at all times.
Also, let’s address the obvious—I would be a terrible blind person. I already can’t see very well now, so walking around in total darkness sounds like poor planning. Honestly, maybe cave exploration would be good practice just in case my eye doctor one day says,
“Ma’am, I’m going to need your driver’s license,”
and snatches it right out of my hand.
Which would be extra tragic because—plot twist—I don’t even like driving anyway.
But caves? Caves are a HARD PASS.
There are things down there.
Things that evolved without sunlight.
Things that absolutely did not sign a peace treaty with humans.
I’ve seen enough sci-fi movies to know how this ends—and it’s never with snacks and a guided tour.
So no.
No caves.
No darkness.
No thank you.
#2 TERRIFIED BUT VERY INTERESTED: Sky Diving
Now sky diving… this one is complicated.
I am afraid of heights.
But I really, really want to skydive.
If I do it, though, here are my non-negotiables:
The instructor must be extremely experienced He must be the hottest guy available He must hold me very tightly as we descend toward the Earth at alarming speeds
Because let’s be honest—if I’m jumping out of a perfectly good airplane, I want the full experience.
I picture us landing on the ground, adrenaline pumping, emotions high, life flashing before our eyes, and then—well—you get the picture.
Is it dangerous? Yes.
Is it irrational? Probably.
Is it worth it? Absolutely.
#3 TOP OF THE LIST: Cage Shark Diving 🦈
This one surprises people, but if you know me, it makes perfect sense.
I am a shark-loving girl, and everyone knows it.
Sharks, hot and spicy food, Texas, and a little bit of chaos—those are my love languages.
I respect sharks.
I’m fascinated by them.
And I fully understand that when you enter the ocean, you are in their territory, not the other way around.
I’ve already swum with several species of sharks, but cage diving with great white sharks off the coast of Africa or Australia?
That’s bucket-list material.
Would I do it alone? Maybe.
Would I prefer to do it with someone I trust with my life? Absolutely.
Give me a seasoned professional, a secure cage, and either my most best friend Christi R. or my person, and I’m in.
Because experiences like that aren’t about being fearless—they’re about respect, trust, and making memories that never fade.
So… What Would It Take to Get Me to Do the Scariest Thing?
Cave exploration?
Nothing.
And I mean nothing.
Not snacks.
Not drinks.
Not shopping.
Not money.
There is no amount of incentives, bribery, or life upgrades that will convince me to crawl into a dark hole in the ground with questionable oxygen and unidentified creatures.
Sky diving and cage shark diving?
Those are yeses—with the right people, the right safety measures, and a whole lot of trust.
I love doing crazy things—with my people or without them.
I’m not afraid to try new things.
I say yes to adventure, spice, Texas, and stories worth telling.
So go ahead… date me.
I’m not too afraid.
Well—
Except for caves. 😌🦈🔥
