What makes you feel nostalgic?
Some of the things that make me feel the most nostalgic are pictures, memories, and music.
When I start going through old photos, I always fall straight down the rabbit hole. Hours can pass without me realizing it as I sit there reminiscing—laughing, crying, and reliving both the good and the hard moments of the past. I inevitably start sending snapshots to friends, family, and my kids with messages like, “OMG, remember this?” Those images unlock feelings I didn’t even realize were tucked away. There’s something about it that just makes your heart feel warm, even when the memories are bittersweet.
Memories do that too—but they hit a little differently. They can sneak up on you out of nowhere, bringing joy, sadness, gratitude, or longing all at once. The good and the bad are often intertwined, reminding you of where you’ve been and how far you’ve come.
And then there’s music. Music has a way of wrapping all of that emotion into a single moment. A song like I Go Back by Kenny Chesney perfectly captures it—that instant transport back to a specific place, a specific person, a specific season of life. One song can take you there in seconds, and suddenly you’re feeling everything all over again.
Music brings back floods of emotion and memory in a way nothing else quite can. It’s powerful, beautiful, and deeply personal.
Pictures, memories, and music—these are the things that make me nostalgic, and I wouldn’t trade that feeling for anything. 💛🎶🖼️
