Describe a family member.

The family member I’d like to describe is my dad. He is one of the most humble, hardworking, giving, and loving people I know—though he can be a little sarcastic at times, which just adds to his charm.

He grew up on a farm with two sisters and three brothers, right in the middle of the bunch. They didn’t have much, but they had everything that truly mattered—love, laughter, and a strong sense of family. From an early age, he learned what hard work really meant and what it meant to take care of one another.

When he left home for college, he worked tirelessly, saving every penny he could. His determination paid off—he built a successful business from the ground up and created a loving family of his own, with three children.

Holidays were always special. When we went back to the family farm, we were surrounded by grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Those gatherings were filled with laughter, good food, and love that could be felt in every corner of that old farmhouse.

Though my grandparents have passed on and the family farm has been sold, the memories live on in my heart and in the photos we treasure. My grandchildren will never experience that same warmth and closeness that the farm brought us, but the lessons my dad learned there—and passed down to me—will always remain. Everything he became, he owes to that place and to my grandparents.

And that’s why, when I think about someone who truly embodies love, strength, and humility—it’s my dad.
